  पेट के रोगों में उपवास का सर्वाधिक महत्व है I रोगों की अवस्था के अनुसार अर्ध उपवास, एकाहार रसोपवास, फल उपवास, दुग्ध उपवास, मठ्ठा उपवास कराया जाता है I पूर्ण उपवास में सादे जल के अलावा कुछ नहीं दिया जाता है I  उपवास विधि - मानसिक रूप से स्वयं को तैयार करें और शारीरिक दृष्टि से प्रारम्भ में दो दिन भोजन की मात्रा आधी कर दे और फल तथा सब्जियां बढ़ा दीजिये I एक दो दिन सिर्फ एक समय रोटी सब्जी और सलाद लीजिये और दुसरे समय फल लीजिये I एक से तीन दिन फलाहार, फिर एक से तीन दिन रसाहार, पुनः एक से तीन दिन निम्बू का पानी, शहद लें I रोगी की शारीरिक, मानसिक अवस्था देखते हुए दो तीन दिन तक संतरे के रस पर रहते हुए सीधे उपवास पर आ जाएं I उपवास के दौरान मल सूख जाता है, उपवास के पहले अर्द्धशंख-प्रछालन या नाशपाती, आंवला, करेले के रस से पेट को पूर्ण साफ़ कर लेना चाहिए I उपवास के दौरान एनीमा, मिटटी-पट्टी, मालिश, धूप स्नान, टहलना,आसन, प्राणायाम,कुंजल आदि चिकित्सऱोग के अनुसार करें I इस दौरान एक घंटे के अंतराल पर एक गिलास पानी में निम्बू निचोड़कर पीते रहे I  उपवास तोड़ने की विधि - लम्बे उपवास में कुछ पर...
