Rest In Peace Tina Turner !

Tina Turner the "Queen" of Rock n Roll of the decades of 1950's born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939 an icon of the music industry passes away. With her powerful voice & electrifying stage presence her incredible career spanning over six decades Turner has left an indelible mark on the world of music.

Tina's journey to stardom began in the 1950s when she joined Ike Turner's band the Kings of Rhythm. Her raw talent and distinctive voice quickly caught the attention of audiences and industry professionals alike. The duo went on to record a string of hits including the timeless classic "River Deep – Mountain High." However behind the scenes Tina faced a tumultuous personal life enduring physical and emotional abuse from Ike Turner.

In the mid 1970s Tina Turner emerged as a solo artist determined to break free from the shadows of her troubled past. She signed with Capitol Records and released her debut solo album "Private Dancer" in 1984. The album became a massive success.. Thanks to its chart-topping singles such as "What's Love Got to Do with It" and "Better Be Good to Me." Tina raspy yet soulful voice combined with her energetic performances captivated audiences worldwide.

Her success continued with subsequent albums like "Break Every Rule" and "Foreign Affair," solidifying her position as a global superstar. Tina's live performances became legendary known for her high-energy dance routines and remarkable vocal range. She effortlessly blended rock pop soul and R&B creating a unique and unmistakable sound that resonated with fans across generations.

Beyond her musical achievements Tina's personal resilience and strength have been an inspiration to many. She openly shared her struggles and triumphs becoming a symbol of survival and empowerment. Her autobiography, "I, Tina," published in 1986 shed light on the abuse she had gone through and served as a beacon of hope for others facing similar situations. Turner also acted in the films Tommy (1975) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985). In 1993 What’s Love To Do With It, a biographical film adapted from her autobiography I Tina; My Life Story was released. In 2009, Turner retired after completing her Tina: 50th Anniversary Tour which is the 15th highest grossing tour of the 2000s. In 2018, she became the subject of the jukebox musical Tina.

 

In 1991 Tina was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame solidifying her status as an iconic figure in music history. She has won numerous awards throughout her career including multiple Grammy Awards American Music Awards & a Kennedy Center Honor. Her contributions to music and her influence on subsequent generations of artists are immeasurable.

In 2009 Tina embarked on her final concert tour appropriately named "Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour." The tour spanned over a year and consisted of 90 shows across Europe and North America. It was a triumphant celebration of her remarkable career and an opportunity for her to bid farewell to her fans in a grand fashion.

While Tina Turner officially retired from the stage, her impact and legacy continue to reverberate. Her music continues to be celebrated & her influence can be heard in the work of many contemporary artists. Tina's powerful voice unyielding spirit & remarkable stage presence will forever be etched in the annals of rock 'n' roll history.
